Achievements 2007

Intergency links implemented in conjunction with chess working party.

Curriculum developed within the SACSA framework, additional SACE pathways developed through new courses particularly at CYWHS and ASEC, VET courses expanded into the IVEC Certificate 1 course at ASEC.

Assessment and reporting processes regarding student learning at all sites formalised.

Essential Learnings as a state wide model for teacher observation, assessment and monitoring

Outreach services consolidated at the FMC and established through the CDU at CYWHS

Aboriginal Initiatives – addressing the needs of indigenous families with children who are inpatients, outpatients and siblings

Attendance data – quantitative research data regarding joint initiatives betwenn HES,CAMHS and FSA about mental health services at ASEC and BIS

Discharge transition planning – identifying processes for clients to prepare educational access when leaving the health care settings

Kids IN the House – national diabetes 1 project of awareness raising

SACE units – diabetes and CF related SACE units developed for statewide use

Mental Health – identifying the most appropriate programs for children at ASEC, BIS and CYWHS

Consultancy – development of consultancy services for ASEC and BIS in line with CAMHS

Expansion of Hospital Education Services to CDUs within metro and major country centres

Implement the consultancy process at ASEC and BIS to support schools and students at the local level

Develop appropriate courses for students and children identified with mental health needs

Expand awareness raising of services provided by Hospital Education Services across the state


Develop a national agenda for similar services at hospitals interstate

Expand knowledge and expertise for discharge and transition processes for identified diagnoses

Identify projects to improve teaching and learning outcome for children and students with health care needs

Provide a broad induction process for staff of the Hospital Education Services

Ensure Interagency links processes are maintained and strengthened across the state

Collaborate with agencies and support services to maintain a flow of current accurate information

Continue to develop curriculum knowledge for teachers to provide appropriate programs, implement, assess and report, particularly the New SACE

Increase links between Hospital Education Services and the East District for networking and training and development options
